Days Out – Gympie Lake Alford Playground (Duckponds)

If you are visiting Gympie for the day, or heading to Rainbow and need a spot to picnic, or burn some energy – this playground will be the new spot in town to let the kids have a run. It has always been a beautiful place to visit – with Duckponds and plentiful picnic tables, now the kids will love the huge fenced playground – with all new equipment, 2 climbing frames, loads of swings, things that swirl, bounce and squirt!

I loved the artwork throughout – especially the mosiac pathways and historical buildings of Gympie in minature.

With loads of options for under 5’s including waterplay, and fully fenced it will be very popular with younger families. Older kids happily queued for the two flying foxes and the huge net swing (all four kids fit on easily). Great to see there was a sturdy swing for children with disabilities as well. The adjoining covered picnic tables were already busy with a birthday party celebration. Seating is available throughout the park.

The new amenities block was conveniently close and includes a parenting room too. The old playground and covered picnic area were still just as popular below with their views over the duckponds – another diversion well worth stopping off for.
