Dates have been released for the Rainbow Beach 2012 Triathlon.
Welcome to another weekly Fishing report from Rainbow Beach Fishing Charters. Thanks Tony for your article below. Another 2 trips offshore last week and some very nice fish were landed […]
Cool off next to this crystal clear freshwater creek, that flows through vegetated banks and right out to the beach. Watch for eels and frogs from the boardwalk, and see […]
The famous Fraser Island Maheno was driven ashore during a cyclone in 1935. A well-known trans-Tasman liner, the Maheno was bound for a Japanese wrecking yard, and instead ended up as one of the favourite photo destinations on Fraser Island. Today she slowly rusts away, about 10 kilometres north of Happy Valley.
It is only 15 minutes to the Fraser Island barge and Eli Creek is just over an hour driving along the world’s greatest road…right along the Pacific. Eli Creek is so scenic, bring aboogie board so you can float down it, and the Maheno Wreck is a few minutes North. If you are planning a day trip, ask us about the other Must Sees when you are here or we can book you on a tour.
What a treat we had visiting Fraser Island last weekend. On previous day trips we had travelled the well worn paths to Central Station, Eli Creek and Lake MacKenzie (the previous two having recent upgrades to their facilities). This time we took in Lake Wabby and Lake Birrabeen – and practically had them to ourselves (if you don’t count the wildlife).
