We have 30 answers to “I’m bored” in the Holidays

  1. Watching the horses

    Swim at the beach and thank our wonderful surf lifesavers for looking out for us.

  2. Churn butter and check out the Clydesdales at Wallu’s Lost Arts Festival, October 6-7.
  3. Visit Fraser Island’s lakes, creeks and walking tracks.
  4. See the Coloured Sands from the beach or from Carlo Sandblow.
  5. Walk to Poona Lake -play spot the goanna.
  6. Fish at Inskip or Fraser Island.
  7. Follow the new Swap It Signs in town and take steps to the Lookout.
  8. Craft, listen to stories and enjoy the Library Holiday Activity. Our Rainbow Beach library will host a children’s activity session – Wednesday 26th September 2.30-3.30. Themed “Champions READ – SPORTS AND GAMES” with FREE Crafts stories games and activities for school age children.
  9. Board the Rattler and search for Pirates Treasure!
  10. Eat prawns at Tin Can Bay’s Seafood, Boat and Camping Show (ride the camels, watch the performances, a great family day out).
  11. Feed the dolphins whilst you are there.
  12. Wonder at the waterfalls on the beach and the underground water systems.
  13. Feast your eyes at the Sandblow. Our guests return again and again – breathtaking in any season, any time of the day.
  14. Pan some time at the Goldrush Festival.
  15. Fun time at the heated aquatic centre – Sunday afternoons has supervised sessions for kids – so Mum and Dad can enjoy an uninterrupted drink at the bar! Ask about their squads and sessions (adults are welcome too!)
  16. Workshops in Gympie’s Art Gallery – they cater to different ages with all sorts of media.
  17. Learn to surf.
  18. Paddle with the dolphins (and whales!)
  19. Play cricket on the headland.
  20. Hit the parks – play tag!
  21. Touch footy on the beach.
  22. Tennis, anyone? Courts are just across the road from us.
  23. Pop on the Manta Ray ferry to Fraser Island – just because! Have a wander or even a picnic and return when you are ready. Then you can say you went overseas for your holiday!
  24. Hire a boat.
  25. Fly a kite.
  26. Collect shells and interesting rocks.
  27. Ride your bike – there’s a good track out to the school road and towards Inskip Point.
  28. Did we mention the sandblow? Just go to watch the sun slink under the horizon over the Sandy Straits.
  29. 4WD to Double Island Point, The Lighthouse or Freshwater – take a picnic.
  30. Finish with a mandatory sandcastle, you are in Rainbow Beach!

Immerse yourself in nature, more than half of the options above cost nothing or close to.
