The Rainbow Beach Holiday Program will be running from 28th December 2011 to 4th January 2012. The program is run by volunteers from Scripture Union (www.suqld.org.au), which is an inter-denominational Christian group who conducts over 100 holiday programs around Australia each year.
The Rainbow Beach Holiday Program has run since 1975 and this year we will bring a few new ideas and activities. Kid’s team, for ages 5 – 12, will be running programs most days from 10am – 12 noon and 2 – 3pm in the park near the playground with games, stories, crafts and lots of fun. The Youth team caters for ages 13 and up. They will be on the beach each morning with pancakes and friendly sports, near the skate park and more formal sports comps and chatting in the afternoon. This year we will also have a place for Young adults and Backpackers to drop in at the new Community Hall during the afternoon or early evening for a coffee and a chat.
We are also running a few special events. On Thursday 29th we will be running a sausage sizzle and mini soccer comp. Entry fee of $6 per team with prizes to be won! On New Year’s Eve (Saturday 31st) there will be a free BBQ and entertainment for kids and families until 9 pm at the Community Hall. On Wednesday 2nd January we will host our traditional Rainbow’s got talent night. Entertainers, singers and dancers come and join our crew for some mass shuffling! Finally on Friday 4th January we will be holding a multi-denomination service at the Rainbow Beach Community Hall. Check in with the team for more details on any of these events.
Our team of volunteers consider it a privilege to freely give of their holidays and finances in order to run a family oriented program for the local community of Rainbow Beach. Through the program, we hope to provide opportunities to share about God’s goodness and His free gift of eternal life through belief in Jesus Christ. We’re also excited to express God’s love to the Rainbow Beach community and businesses as thanks for their support in this ministry over the past thirty-five years.
