What a season it was – two long weekends at the end of a school holiday, town was just as busy first week back at school as it was the week before. No wonder – the beach was amazing – beautiful rolling waves, lots of sand and blue skies.
We’ve had so many people extend their stay and wonderful feedback from Mick’s Fraser Island 4×4 Tours. Guests at Rainbow Getaway said he kept them active all day, and was so upbeat, you can really tell he loves the Island and sharing it with others. (Remember, Rainbow Getaway can book your tours when booking your accommodation.)
If you are here for Mother’s Day you can wear pink and walk for breast cancer along the beautiful shores of Tin Can Bay. Plus this weekend there is the Warbirds and Bay to Bay, both in Tin Can Bay.
An old favourite is back! Do you remember local chef Simon – he used to make the best thai infused reef fish? He is back – this time at the Pub, and we noticed that the very same recipe is back on the menu! The pub’s menu has change quite a lot with new management – we can vouch for their delicious asian beef salad and burgers for lunch.
For the second year at Rainbow Beach, there will be Pig Racing for Melanoma by Rainbow Beach Hardware, Fishing n Camping in memory of their daughter, Kelly. Held in the Long weekend, Sunday June 8, 11am till late afternoon: go and see the pig auctions, pig racing (loads of fun ), bucking bull competition with prize money , jumping castle, face painting, and so much more – with awesome prizes.
More markets in Rainbow
Rainbow Beach Craft Markets held their first market day in April. There was a great variety , including Denise’s beautiful jewellery, Kathy’s knitted goods, Grant’s famous driftwood fish and Lyn’s exotic shawls and shrugs. Betty brought wonderful preserves, Jeannie her unique dog collars and there was a wonderful display of artwork. Last but not least Colleen’s kids face painting was also available.
The centre block markets are now on twice a week, 2nd and 4th Saturdays whilst the favourite Tin Can Bay market remains on the 3rd Saturday of the month. The Sports Club hosts their market on the the 5th Saturday of the month and always attract great crowds too.
The Rainbow Beach Craft Markets are held every Sunday at Shop 1 The Top Shops (where the Fish shop and Laundromat are), from 9am to 1pm. Come along and support local crafters – remember Mother’s Day is almost here!
